Kids Corner: I will teach with puppets!

Yes, puppets! So far, I have taught lessons with Rambo the badger and Gordon the gofer but I assure there are more puppets waiting and ready if needed.

So why do I sometimes use puppets in my lessons for kids? There are many reasons. Here is a short list!

·         It surprises people! Surprise keeps people interested.

·         As a badger, who eats spider cookies, I can get away with saying things in a childish way that sounds weird for an adult.

·         Some kids are on the autistic spectrum and find intense contact on a webcam difficult or even frightening. They usually find having a conversation with Gorden the gofer much easier.

·         Children enjoy making friends with animals and strange creatures, and this can help them enjoy their lessons.

At first it may seem like a crazy idea, and it is not something I normally do for everyone. Different people need different techniques, and teaching is all about learning what the student needs to learn best. So, if you learn best with puppets, out comes the badger!
