Kids Corner: More free English Games for Kids

Hey parents! I have some new free online English learning games to recommend for your kids. If they get as excited about these two its time for a trip to the hospital… or a week’s break or something… that doesn’t look healthy.

The British Council offer a small selection of English language educational games on their website for you to play for free! (https://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/games - or you can google “British council games”).

Here is a break down of the games available:

1.       ABC countdown – a challenge to click the alphabet in order in 30 seconds

2.       Animal band quiz – answer questions in English and practice vocabulary about music

3.       Clean and Green – recycle the rubbish. Good for food and recycling vocabulary

4.       Fantasy Run – Running game, collect the items and hear the British English pronunciation

5.       (read the instructions!)

6.       Job Mixer – Read the information about a job, and match the uniform to the job

7.       Magic monkey – not recommended

8.       School Run – Running game, collect the items and hear the British English pronunciation

9.       Secret Coder – not recommended

10.   Story Maker 1 – make your own story by choosing different options!

11.   Story Maker 2 – make your own story by choosing different options!

12.   Style-a-hero – not recommended

13.   Teddy-Dresser – not recommended

14.   Wordshake – make as many different words as you can with the letters you are given!

Games 6, 8, 11, and 12 are OK games but I don’t recommend them to help anyone practice or learn English.

So, go ahead and try them out, they are completely free! I like Wordshake myself, it is good fun for older kids and adults. The youngest kids might like ABC countdown the most. Games are an excellent way to improve English as they are fun, and you learn best when you are happy and enjoying yourself. I am very happy about the school run and fantasy run games because there are not many games available to help you learn pronunciation.
