Gateway to Grammar: To infinitives and beyond!

Ok I will share the secret with you, just don’t tell the farmer.

Some people find it difficult to know when to use verbs in their infinitive form (with no changes like “love” “eat” etc). This tip will not help you with all infinitives, but it will help you with many!

If you see “to” the verb that comes after will be an infinitive:

·         I want to “go” home.

·         I have to “eat” all my peas.

·         I am going to “tell” the farmer.

·         I am too scared to “wake” the sleeping dog.

It’s a really simple trick but if it helps you, use it!
