Kids Corner: Hangman to teach English literacy

Are you trying to help someone improve their spelling or writing? For beginners this can be a very challenging process. For children with learning disabilities, it can be stressful and embarrassing. So why not make a game of it?

Hang man is an easy game, with an element of competitiveness that you can easily play together while you learn or reinforce the spelling of a new word. It also helps people to learn the sounds and names of the letters in the alphabet as they must call them out to guess answers.

Personally, I threaten to hang bunnies or hedgehogs, so kids want to save the adorable cartoon bunny. This adds a little humour, motivates children to take part, and allows you to doodle sad faces on forest animals. Perhaps I do this because I am a terrible person? Who knows?

Add some simple games to your study time to make it more fun, more motivational, and a little less threatening to stressed minds.
