What The Fluff Wednesday: My Unplanned Blogging “Holiday”

Happy What The Fluff Wednesday everyone. I’m here to tell you about where the Weird But Educational Wright English blog went for a week and why.

Where Did Weird But Educational Go?

If you are new here, Weird But Educational is the name of this English teaching and learning blog. Hi! Grab (get) yourself a seat. Basically, it went nowhere for a week. I wish I could say I was working on some super secret major update as I have done in the past, but that’s just not the case (true) this time. I just have not written or made anything for the website for a week.

Why Didn’t You Update?

The short version is: everything stressful and painful happened in my and my husband’s lives all at once. The long version will need subheadings.

My Health

I don’t want to go into too much detail but to keep myself alive I need an operation done under general anaesthetic every 2 years. My most recent operation was supposed to (it should have) take place in 2023 but, because of some pretty big mistakes, it didn’t. Because of my husband moving to the UK and us getting married, I have been more than busy and I didn’t notice. So now it’s 2025 and thanks to a wonderful new General Practitioner (GP in the UK and Family Doctor in the US) I now know I'm 2 years overdue.

Don’t worry, I’ve got it all under control, I think, and everything should be fine. If it’s not that will suck (be bad). But to make sure I get what I need I had to have lots of medical tests all over the place.

My Husband’s Leg

My husband broke his leg dramatically when he was a teenager and had metal rods in his leg when it was repaired. Now he is a handsome adult man, he gets terrible pain in that leg and it swells, gets hot, and stops him walking. This has reached crisis point (where it’s so bad we must act) and he needs lots of medical tests, and possibly surgery. More medical tests!

UK Visas

The administrative work (paperwork) for a UK visa is very difficult and very expensive. It’s also incredibly stressful. There are also things you must promise to do on different visas and if you don’t do them, they can make you leave the country. So because of things that have happened, we need to get a new visa, so that means lots of paperwork and lots of money and stress.

Severe Stomach Pains

Because the medical problems we already had were not bad enough (bad joke), I have been experiencing severe stomach pains since December and I’m in the process of having that investigated. It’s worrying and I don’t like it, but that’s life. More medical tests!

Summing Up

So, in summary, everything went wrong. I looked at all the extra things I needed to do, and the support my husband needed, and I thought '“… I can’t blog for a while”. Maybe I should have just written that!
