It can be hard to imagine what you will get from a service you have never had before. Let me walk you through what it is like to learn English with me as your teacher.

Imagine you are on your way home from work on Tuesday evening and you are starting to feel sick. You know you have a lesson tomorrow evening, but you don’t think you will be well enough. You email me, and we rearrange your appointment for the following Monday. You pay nothing for the cancellation because you gave 24 hours notice.

Now it’s the following Monday. You click the link in your email and join a video call with Lana (me). Lana catches up with you about how your week has been. This feels natural, it is relaxing, and you practice your English without thinking about it. You laugh and joke a little about something that happened in the office. You mention you have a difficult email to write, and you would like some support with it. Lana adapts (changes based on new information) the lesson plan, and you work together to make sure the email says what you want it to say, in the tone you want to say it. After this you move on to a grammar exercise to practice the past perfect. You work together on creating sentences based on your career in the past perfect. You then complete a short multiple-choice test on the past perfect online.

You have mentioned that you really enjoy talking about your horse-riding hobby. You also use your English to talk to international horse riders at competitions and you want to improve your conversational English. Lana directs you to an article about riding competitions. You read it together, and make a note of all the new vocabulary. You then discuss your hobby with Lana, and she continues a light-hearted (fun/enjoyable) conversation about your hobby with you. All the time she is thinking about new vocabulary and the grammar that you can work on together.

The hour is coming to an end, and you talk about what you have improved this week, and when you would like your next lesson. You realise that you talked a lot easier today than you did last week. The time went past really quickly. You ask for something to go away and do outside of your lesson, and Lana emails you extra past perfect exercises. Lana tells you how far you are through your learning plan, and asks you what you enjoyed about your lesson today, and what you would like to change. You say that you would like to work on something to help you prepare for a conference you have in two weeks. Lana says that is absolutely no problem, and she will go away and prepare that for your next lesson. You thank her, smile, wave and say goodbye. Lana thanks you back, and wishes you luck with the email you send. You click ‘end call’, and feel satisfied.
