Vocabulary Showcase: Synonyms for “monster”

Happy Monday my lovely monsters! I was a strange child. I always liked monsters. Big “scary” things always seemed to be misunderstood (not understood by others), and I wanted to make friends with them. That’s why I chose such a cute monster for our vocabulary showcase today. Let’s take a look at some other words that mean “monster”:

• Abomination (horrible thing) – That teddy bear I tried to make is an abomination! It’s so ugly!

• Monstrosity (horrible thing) – Werewolves are monstrosities!

• Colossus (very large animal/person) – The Tyrannosaurus Rex was a colossus!

• Titan (very large animal/person) – Blue whales are titans of the sea!

• Demon (being from hell) – I had a nightmare last night. I was being followed by a demon.

• Mythical beast (animal from stories/legends) – My favourite mythical beast is Pegasus, the flying horse.

My cats are titans. Giant cuddly monsters, covered in fluff. Do you like monsters? I think they are cute. What is your favourite monster? Do you have a monster you are most afraid of? I love the idea of Moth Man in America. I don’t know why, I just think he looks like a cool animal and a lot of fun!
