Vocabulary Showcase: Synonyms for “hot”

Damn I wish I had 30 bananas. Oh, hi there! Let’s talk about some English stuff! It’s hot! British people talk about the weather all the time. Unfortunately, this is true, and we are usually complaining.

So, if you want to complain like all the British people, you can use these other ways to say that the weather is hot:

·         Nice hot: Balmy, summery, tropical.

·         Too hot! Too hot!: Boiling, baking, scorching, roasting, searing, blistering, sweltering.

These words are all adjectives, so they are used to describe the weather:

·         “It’s lovely and balmy outside.”

·         “I’m staying inside all summer, it’s blistering out there.”

I am not very surprised that there are many different ways to complain about the heat and only a few to say it’s nice.  English people don’t drink tea 24/7, and we don’t have weird teeth, but we definitely do have a national competition to see who can complain the most about the weather.
