Much or many? What is the rule? It is all about whether it is a countable or uncountable thing you are talking about. Then you need to think about asking a question, giving a statement, or giving a negative statement!

Countable pos, neg, question = many

Uncountable pos = a lot

Uncountable neg, question = much.
