I am an English beginner, does watching English Kids TV help?
You want to improve your English, and you are a beginner learner. First of all, WELCOME TO WRIGHT ENGLISH! Maybe you have thought about watching Kids TV to help you learn. Kids improve their English through cartoons right? How will it work for you?
Kids TV is good for beginners because it is simple. The grammar is simple, and the words used are very simple. Kids TV repeats things (does them many times), and this helps you to remember things. Kids TV has a lot of pictures which will help you understand what is happening. When you learn a new word, you will usually see what that word is for (for example, you will learn the word bucket, and the TV will show a bucket). The grammar you learn in Kids TV is the same grammar you will need as an adult. Listening to the TV will help your brain become comfortable with English.
There are some problems too. Kids TV is boring for adults. We lose interest very quickly. The words you learn are helpful for kids who talk about play and school, but not helpful for adults. If you do start with Kids TV learning English, move on quickly to something adult. A good way to continue after Kids TV is adult English TV with subtitles in your native language. You will learn new words, and see what they mean in subtitles. When this becomes a little easier, move on to English TV with English subtitles. Now you can see the spelling and the grammar of the words you know in English.
These techniques will help you learn English as a beginner. Remember though, this will not help you speak. To learn speaking English, you need to speak!
