Gateway to Grammar: Preposition and verb pairs

preposition and verbs.jpg

There are some prepositions and verbs that are so in love they always go together. These are preposition and verb pairs and you should respect their relationships and never separate them!

  • Interested + in

  • Enamoured + with (in love with)

  • Sorry + for

  • Amazed + by

  • Consists + of (made up from – a Christmas tree consists of a tree, some decorations and a star)

  • Apologise + for (to say sorry for something)

There are many loving preposition and verb couples in the English language. The best way to learn these words is when you first learn a new verb, check if it is married to a preposition. Learn them together.
