GCSE English Literature students in the UK will be studying “An Inspector Calls” by J.B. Priestley this academic year. So, being the loveable cuddly English Teacher that I am I thought, why not help everyone pick great revision materials to help them get the best results in their exams?

So, to help you get those awesome grades, I have chosen a fantastic revision book and an incredibly helpful audiobook.

YORK NOTES for GCSE Study Guide for “An Inspector calls” ISBN: 978-1-4479-8216-6:

·         An in-depth introduction into the background of the author, and the time in which the play was written.

·         Scene by scene detailed notes on plot points, themes, literary devices, character development and more.

·         In-depth character progression notes.

·         Theme analysis.

·         Practice questions with answers.

SMARTPASS PLUS audio education study guide – An inspector calls – available on audible:

·         Includes 2 versions of the play, 1 with SmartPass commentary, and 1 with a complete audio re-enactment of the play.

·         SmartPass commentary is extremely easy to understand and goes into lots of detail throughout the whole play. There is a student and a teacher who discuss things that are happening, as well as things about the authors life, background of when the play was written, and important things to keep in mind for essays and exams.

·         There are also study tips for how to get the best out of your revision time!

If you take these two resources and use them both, you are doing the best you can for your English Literature grades. Both the audiobook and the revision guide are extremely interestingly presented and easy to understand. This makes revision easier because it is not boring!
