Gateway to Grammar: Verb Families Part 9 - The “End” Family

Another week another verb family! This week it is the small but beautiful “End” Family. I have also included a very silly joke in the picture so leave a comment if you work it out. You will win… a virtual hug and high five.

The “End” Family

The “End” family are a group of verbs that sound similar and are conjugated (changed to different times or tenses) in the same way.

  • Infinitive (normal form) → past simple → past participle (present perfect or third form)

  • Lend → Lent → Lent

  • Send → Sent → Sent

  • Spend → Spent → Spent

Why Should I Learn Verb Families?

It’s not essential, but it is helpful to learn irregular verbs in groups or “families” because it uses more parts of your brain to record your memory of how these verbs change. This means there is a bigger chance of you making a strong memory, and a better chance of finding and using that memory in future.

Why Do You Always Use Animals?

I like animals.
