Enamoured - Where Does it Come From?

To be enamoured with something means to strongly like something.

The English language is heavily influenced by old French. In old French en = in, amour = love. So to be enamoured with something means to be in love with it. Knowing where a word comes from can help to remember it, and to remember how to spell it.

Think of your memories as a spider web. The word "enamoured" is in the centre of the web. Coming out of the centre are connections you made with that word: "with", "old French", "amour", "love"... The more connections you have in your web, the more chance you have of remembering that word.

Similar words to enamoured with are: to adore, to be smitten with, to have affection for, and to have a thing for.

Find something you are enamoured with to look at everytime things get a little stressful. The world is still out there, it is just on pause.
