Vocabulary Showcase: Synonyms for “hide”

It’s Monday. What are you hiding? I’m hiding how tired I am, and I’m hiding from that scary man that walks his dog down my road…. it’s a long story. There are other ways to say “hide” (synonyms), so let’s take a look at those:

• Veil – Catherine tried to veil her shock when Alex asked her to marry him.

• Mask – Chris tried to mask his anxiety by talking a lot.

• Disguise – I have a big spot on my nose, so I’ve used a lot of makeup to disguise it.

• Cover up – The dog pulled his bed over to cover up where he peed!

• Obscure – Jonathan pulled the curtains when he had visitors to obscure all the mess in the garden.

• Conceal – I turned away to conceal how happy I was that lucy wasn’t coming to the party!

Well, that’s it! A bunch of new words to describe hiding things. It is Monday though and half of me has already gone back to bed. So, I’m going to climb in a clam like that octopus and hope nobody sees me.
