Everyone knows the Simpsons. They might be the most famous family in the world. Today the Simpsons have been on TV for 36 years. The Simpsons is 3 months older than I am! Let’s have a look together at some other ways of saying “family” so you can expand (increase) your vocabulary:

·         Relations - Claire always invites her friends and relations to her art gallery openings.

·         Relatives – Simon has lots of relatives in Spain.

·         Blood relations (genetic relative) – I don’t have many blood relations, but some of my friends feel like family.

·         Kin – My Mum, Dad, and Brother are my kin.

·         Kinsfolk – Most people want to live closer to their kinsfolk. It helps them feel at home.

·         Kindred – Louis moved back to France to live closer to his kindred.

·         Own flesh and blood – My cats aren’t my own flesh and blood, but I love them like my children.

·         Tribe – The Simpsons tribe have a pretty exciting life.

·         Fam (modern young slang) – None of my fam use social media.

I am far too old to use fam without joking. That doesn’t stop me from saying it though. I enjoy how awful I sound saying it, and it makes people laugh. I hope your kin are as loving as the Simpsons, but a little less exciting. Lisa went through a lot of cats called snowball in a short space of time. It makes you wonder what happened to them all.
