Saturday Supplement: Inner rest day

Maybe you are studying really hard to do well at school, or focussing on improving your English for work. Maybe like me you are adapting (changing to fit) to big changes in your life, and learning to live with a different culture. Whatever the reason, it can be overwhelming (feel like too much for you). I’m taking today as a rest day; a live in my head day and going back to a little peace.

It’s easy to think about all the things you should be doing, and how every minute of every day can be packed full of learning and working. People forget though that your brain is a muscle, and like every muscle, it needs rest. The time you spend resting is just as important as the time you spend learning, adapting, coping, developing. Healthy brains sleep at night, get good food and oxygen, and have rest time between working times. Rest time is when you heal and learn what you have encountered (seen/heard/done) that day.

I’m going to the inner rest zone today. Who’s joining me?

Vocabulary: to adapt, to feel overwhelmed, to encounter things.
